Domonic Brown played in five games for the Clearwater Threshers on a rehab assignment and hit .368 with two home runs. The results - and the fact that Brown has experienced no pain from his broken hand - are encouraging enough to move Brown to the Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs.
Brown will join the IronPigs for the final two games of their recent homestand against the Buffalo Bisons.
There are conflicting reports as to whether Brown is being moved to Lehigh Valley as part of his rehab assignment or if he has been activated from the DL and optioned to Lehigh Valley.
Last season, Brown played in 28 games at Lehigh Valley and hit .346 prior to his stint with the Phillies.
During camp, Brown was fighting for the starting right field job when he went down with a broken hamate bone in his right hand. The injury took Brown out of the competition for the spot on the roster and he started his official rehab this past week after a short stint with the extended spring training program in Clearwater.
If Brown is being optioned to Lehigh Valley, a corresponding move will have to be made to clear a roster spot. Brown does still have 15 days remaining on his rehab assignment.
