Green, who has shown above average power, received a $1 million bonus, the largest amount given to a player selected outside of the first round so far in 2011.
Coming out of Berrien High School in Georgia, Greene showed perhaps the most power of any high school hitter in the draft. He also possesses average speed and an above average arm and should fit in either corner outfield spot.
Greene signed on the final day that picks from the 2011 Draft can sign with the team that drafted them. The Phillies have now signed seven of the first ten players they drafted, with second round pick Roman Quinn being the highest unsigned pick. Also unsigned out of their first ten picks are shortstop Mitchell Walding (5th round) and catcher Zach Wright (6th round). All but Wright are high school players, Wright played last season at East Carolina.
