You might not realize just how good Juan Pierre is until you take a look at his numbers. The 34-year old outfielder has led the league in at least one offensive category in eight of his 12 seasons in the majors, including leading the American League with 19 sacrifices in 2011.
The Phillies agreed with Pierre on a minor league deal that includes an invitation to spring training.
Over his 12 seasons, Pierre has averaged 51 stolen bases per season, but stole just 27 last season, the lowest since Pierre played in just 51 games in his rookie season. The left-handed hitting Pierre is a career .296 hitter and has played both center field and left field in his career.
