More Surgery For Phils' Prospect Garcia

For the second season in a row, Harold Garcia will spend most of his time rehabbing and not on a baseball field. The 25-year old underwent surgery this past Monday that will sideline him until at least July.

As much as Harold Garcia was looking forward to returning to a baseball field this spring, it's just not going to happen. The infield prospect missed most of last season with a torn ACL and is now sidelined after undergoing micro-fracture surgery on the same right knee that sidelined him last season.

Garcia played two games in the Venezuelan Winter League this winter before reporting to Phillies mini-camp in Clearwater. Once there, Garcia complained of swelling in his knee and the hope was that rest would solve the problem.

"Unfortunately, it just kept bothering him," reported Phillies assistant GM Scott Proefrock.

The surgery will sideline Garcia for up to six months. The best-case scenario is that he might be able to return sometime in mid-to-late July if all goes well.

Last season, Garcia was able to play in just 12 games for Double-A Reading because of the torn ACL.
