Two milestones in one night for 'Claws

Posted Jun 16, 2012

There's no denying that the Lakewood BlueClaws have been successful both on the field and off. Friday night, they reached two big milestones for the franchise and picked up a nice win to boot.

On the night where the BlueClaws welcomed fan number 5,000,000 through their turnstiles, Lakewood also earned their 800th win in franchise history with a 4-3 win over the Hickory Crawdads.

Chris Duffy's sacrifice fly with the bases loaded and one out in the 8th inning brought home Carlos Perdomo for the go-ahead run in Lakewood's win. The RBI was Duffy's second of the game as he finished 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Ervis Manzanillo struck out a season-high eight batters in six innings but didn't get a decision. He finishes the first-half with an 0-5 record. Mike Nesseth (5-1-2, 3.27) picks up the victory which is his team-leading fifth on the season and Colton Murray locked down the ninth inning for his fourth save.

The BlueClaws and Crawdads will play the third game of a four-game series to conclude the first half of the season. Lakewood will send Colin Kleven (4-5, 3.66) to the mound and he will be opposed by Hickory's Santo Perez (2-5, 6.91) Saturday night.
