If the name Rodrigo Lopez sounds familiar, it should. He pitched seven games with the Phillies back in 2009 and now, he rejoins the organization on a minor league deal.

It's that time of the off-season when a lot of teams do some sniffing around to find some players who could fill specific roles, even if it's in the minor league system.

The Phillies found a starter for Triple-A Lehigh Valley and some potential insurance for the starting rotation when they signed 37-year old Rodrigo Lopez to a one-year, minor league deal Saturday.

Lopez will receive $1-million if he's added to the major league roster.

Lopez has pitched with San Diego, Baltimore, Colorado, Arizona and the Chicago Cubs in addition to the Phillies. Coming into 2013, Lopez is 81-89 with a 4.82 ERA primarily as a starter.

The past two seasons, Lopez has pitched for the Cubs and posted a line of 0-1 with a 5.68 ERA in four games - two starts - with the Cubs last season.
