Kenny Faulk projects as an org lefty but not for lack of a quality change-up. He relies heavily on his fastball-change combination, mixing in an average change-up that can deceive hitters with ease. His lack of a breaking ball limits his projection but his change-up draws routine praise from scouts.
Much like Faulk, Turley projects as a reliever long term and his change-up is one of his weapons. He has a well-rounded arsenal but his change-up stands above the rest as an average pitch. Shawn Teufel offers a very similar change-up that has good sink and fade and can help keep right-handed hitters off balance.
On the projection side of things, Edgar De La Rosa and Bruce Rondon both have potential. De La Rosa's change-up flashes as a true weapon with excellent fade and some sink. With a power fastball immature slider, De La Rosa relies heavily on his change-up, and with good reason.
Rondon flashed the occasional above-average to plus change-up that I loved this summer. He didn't throw it often but when he did, he threw it with conviction and generated good velocity differential and excellent movement.
Jade Todd (LHP)
Todd has had trouble staying on the field with a variety of injury issues throughout his career, but despite that, he has managed to continue developing his change-up, which now flashes as an MLB average pitch.
Much of Briceno's arsenal and prospect status is based on his projection and his change-up lives in this world. He can flash a pretty change-up at times but needs consistency. Julio Felix also flashed a quality change-up this year with good arm speed and fade.
Duffey and Lo both showed some potential with the change-up in 2012 but neither stood out beyond fringe-average. Logan Ehlers and Hudson Randall both drew praise from amateur scouts but they need to demonstrate that the pitch remains effective at the professional level.
