AAA Toledo Mud Hens
10-25, 4th in West Division
A day after Toledo was shut out by Rochester the Mud Hens scored 12 runs against the Red Wings, topping Rochester 12-2 on Thursday. Starting pitcher Jose Alvarez was dealing on the way to his second win of the season, giving up two earned runs on six hits over seven innings while striking out a season high 11 batters. Despite striking out three times Danny Dorn gave the Hens a boost offensively, going 1-for-3 with a home run and three runs driven in in the win. Nick Castellanos drove in two runs and notched two doubles on a 3-for-4 night while Brandon Douglas also drove in two runs and scored two runs.
AA Erie Seawolves
20-12, 1st in Western Division
After having its seven-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday Erie came back with a vengeance in its series opener against Bowie as the SeaWolves topped the Baysox 5-1. Warwick Saupold was impressive on the mound on his way to earning the win in the start, shutting out Bowie on three hits while striking out six over 6 ? innings of work. Tyler Stohr earned his first save of the season in the win. Tyler Collins continued to be dominant at the plate on Thursday, going 2-for-3 with his league-leading eighth home run and two runs driven in in the win. Wade Gaynor also had a home run and drove in two runs in Erie's win.
High-A Lakeland Flying Tigers
13-19, 6th in North Division
A day after Lakeland scored a walk off run to top Jupiter the Flying Tigers broke a tie in the tenth inning against Clearwater with a double to top the Threshers in the series opener 8-7. Starting pitcher Wilsen Palacios earned a no decision in a shaky start, giving up seven earned runs on eight hits in five innings of work. Will Clinard earned his first win of the season in relief, shutting out Clearwater over two innings. Aaron Westlake had a huge night offensively for the Flying Tigers, going 5-for-6 with a home run and four runs driven in, including the game-winning run in the top of the tenth on a double. Mike Hernandez also had a home run and drove in three runs in the win.
Low-A West Michigan Whitecaps
14-17, 4th in Eastern Division
A four-run sixth inning by Bowling Green broke a 1-1 tie and West Michigan could never catch back up as the Whitecaps fell to the Hot Rods 5-1. Starting pitcher Endrys Briceno fell to 0-3 with the loss, giving up four earned runs on four hits over five innings. Jeff Holm drove in the lone run for West Michigan on a 1-for-4 night at the plate.
