Top Prospect #30: RHP Jean Machi

The Phillies have been able to find some talent in Venezuela. Bobby Abreu is of course, the most noted Phillie to come out of Venezuela, but there are others coming along. Jean Machi is a young right-hander who shows lots of promise and the Phillies are glad that they were the ones to find Machi and bring him state-side. The early returns are very good.

The Phillies kept Jean Machi at home, pitching in the Venezuelan Summer League for two seasons before bringing him to the United States. Pitching for La Victoria as a 17 year old in 2000, the Phillies liked what they saw and were happy just to have the youngster as part of the organization.
