If there is one specific type of pitcher that the Phillies don't seem to have too many of, it's those tall, lanky left-handers. One of them in their stable is Greg Kubes. After a season in AAA in 2003, Kubes will be one of the young guys fighting for a spot with the major league club as they look to rebuild the bullpen. There are precious few openings though and Kubes chances are somewhat of a long shot.

Even though Greg Kubes has been in the organization since 1998, the Phillies still aren't sure how he projects. There have been internal discussions about whether he is best suited to pitch as a starter or in relief.   Originally, the Phillies thought Kubes would be best suited to work as a starter.
