The Phillies knew they wanted Andy Barb in their organization, but they weren't sure why. Whether they would use him as a catching prospect or a pitching prospect was completely up in the air, but the decision was made to move him to the mound. When Barb finally signed with the Phillies almost a year after the draft, his professional career got underway and the Phillies believe that they may have a good young pitcher coming along.

There were a lot of question marks surrounding Andy Barb. The Phillies knew he would be a tough sign, so they waited until the 40th round of the 2003 Draft to take Barb.
