The Phillies had a need for a shortstop at the AA level and checked out the waiver wire. That's where they found young Angel Chavez, who played in ten games at the major league level with the Giants in 2005. Now, he's anchoring the shortstop spot for the R-Phils.

Angel Chavez certainly didn't rush his way through the Giants' system. In fact, he spent all or part of five different seasons at Class-A San Jose, including starting the 2005 season at that level. In mid-May, the Giants had finally seen enough and moved him all the way to AAA Fresno and by the end of the season, they had him on their major league roster. Chavez has always put up decent, but...
