The following is directly from Mike Costanzo.

I'm really excited about this opportunity. I think it's going to be pretty cool to let fans follow my career and get my perspective on how things are going for me. I hope you'll all enjoy reading it.

Right now I'm in Clearwater. Technically, I'm in the Florida Instructional League, but I'm not playing. I banged up my knee at the end of the season and I'm just down here to stay in shape and work on a few things. The knee isn't anything to worry about and I'll be 100% for next spring, without a doubt. It's just a matter of being cautious right now.

When I leave Florida in a couple weeks, I'll be headed home to the Philadelphia area. In fact, I'll be working with a personal trainer and working out at Citizens Bank Park here and there. It will be nice to be with my family and to hang out at the ballpark now and then.

I just found out that the plan is for me to start 2007 with AA Reading. It's another jump and I'm really excited about moving closer and closer to the majors. I've heard a lot of great things about the fans in Reading and although I've never been to the stadium there, I've heard good things about it.

This past season I was at Clearwater and was pretty happy with how everything turned out. I got off to a rough start, but made some adjustments and turned things around. It was primarily just a matter of taking a different approach at the plate and relaxing more. I have to admit that I wanted to do too much in every at bat early in the year and it messed me up offensively. The same thing happened in my first season at Batavia and I'm going to work hard to keep things under control and guarantee that it won't happen again at the AA level. It's all a matter of keeping the same approach and attitude that I had late in the year at Clearwater and I'm confident that I can do that.

Don Long and Greg Gross were huge in helping me turn around my season at Clearwater last year. I have to say that I don't understand where some of the bad reviews of Gross come from. He is simply unbelievable and works harder than almost anybody to help hitters straighten themselves out. He's always available and has passed on a lot of good advice and knowledge to me and it was a huge part of how I was able to turn my season around.

Actually, a lot of the coaches in the organization have been awesome. The Clearwater coaching staff was great this past season. Jim Morrison and Greg Legg were always working with players and kept things on the right path. I was really excited about playing for those guys and I have a lot of respect for them.

That's about all I have to report for right now. Like I said, I really am looking forward to this. It should be a lot of fun and may be pretty interesting at times, especially as the season gets closer and closer. Of course, you never know what the season will bring with it.
