was rewarded Tuesday with a contract extension that will carry him through the 2011 season. Manuel's original contract went through the 2009 season with a team option for 2010.
The financial terms of the deal weren't immediately released, but Manuel surely received a raise over the $1.7 million that his initial contract would have paid him for 2010.
The Phillies spent most of their day working on getting Jake Peavey, but found enough time to give manager Charlie Manuel a contract extension. The deal carries him through the 2011 season.
The Phillies rewarded their skipper with a healthy extension to his contract.
