Jimmy Rollins and Shane Victorino continued their streak of Gold Glove awards as both picked up the hardware for their accomplishments in 2009.

Jimmy Rollins is starting to put himself among the elite defensive players in Phillies history. With his latest Gold Glove, Rollins has now won three straight, joining the likes of Mike Schmidt (10), Garry Maddox (8), Manny Trillo (3) and Scott Rolen (3). He is also the first shortstop in the National League since New York's Rey Ordonez accomplished the feat for three straight seasons ending in 1999.

Rollins defensive numbers were outstanding. He led all NL shortstops with a .990 fielding percentage, making just six errors all season.

In a statement, Rollins thanked the managers and coaches who chose him for the award. "Defense is a very important part of my game and it truly is an honor to be recognized as one of the best defensive players in the league," stressed Rollins.

For the third straight season, the Phillies had two Gold Glove winners. It's the 11th time in their history that they've had multiple winners in the same season.

As for Victorino, he picked up his second straight Gold Glove award as an outfielder. Like Rollins, Victorino led all players at his position in fielding percentage (.997) and made just two errors all season.

"I would like to thank the managers and coaches who voted for me and who believe that I am one of the best in a league full of outstanding players," said Victorino in a statement released by the Phillies.

This is the third straight season that the Phillies center fielder has won the award. Aaron Rowand won the award in 2007, his last season in Philadelphia.
