Repertoire: Drew Naylor has a fastball that sits in the low-90s and generally tails down and away from hitters. He combines that with a good, hard curve that is tough to catch up with. He throws the obligatory change-up and is working to make it a better pitch, but right now, it's not a pitch that has hitters too worried. All of his pitches developed well over the last season, making Naylor a much better prospect.

Pitching Style: Naylor is becoming more and more of a strikeout pitcher and struck out more than a hitter per inning last season at Williamsport. On the mound, Naylor is a study in poise and knows that it influences how teammates are going to look at him. "It helps a lot. When you're the pitcher, everyone on the whole field is looking at you. If you look like a wreck then your teammates are going to have a little bit of doubt," believes Naylor. "If you look confident, then your team is going to be confident and you'll get those plays in the hole made for you." The Phillies moved Naylor to the starting rotation at Williamsport after a season as a reliever and the move helped him to show more potential. His pitches are more suited to those of a starter than to pitching in relief.

Projection: The Phillies kept Naylor in Australia for two seasons after they signed him and only brought him to the states for the 2006 season. The early returns were that he was a pitcher that was still pretty rough around the edges, but after last season, he's now squarely on the radar map for the Phillies. He's still just 21 - he turns 22 at the end of May - and does have a few more rough spots to work out, but he's made a lot of strides. After his work in Australia and two seasons of short-season ball, Naylor is ready for a stint in Lakewood and will likely start the season there.
