The Phillies have worked long and hard to develop a stable of good, young pitchers in their minor league system and the cream of the crop is Cole Hamels. The 20 year old left-hander came to the Phillies in the first round of the 2002 Draft out of Rancho Bernardo High School and he came with a bit of a history. Usually, guys who wind up breaking their arm in high school don’t wind up being highly touted pitching prospects.
