| Biography: |
After starting his career with the Cleveland Indians and hitting 334 career homeruns for Cleveland, Jim Thome decided to leave for greener pastures.
As the top free agent following the 2002 season, Thome was pursued hot and heavy by the Phillies and finally signed a six year $85 million contract to play in Philadelphia. In his first year in the National League, Thome hit 47 homeruns with 131 RBI.
Thome suffered a fractured middle finger in spring training of 2004, but made it back into the lineup by the final week of camp and was ready to go for opening day.
Hit the 400th homerun of his career at Citizens Bank Park on June 14, 2004.
