| Mike Lieberthal wasn't as good as his .271 average and 17 HRs in 2004 say
he was. He had a big September that creates a statistical smokescreen over his
pathetic performance with runners in scoring position. Lieberthal, 33, makes
$7.5 million this season and is extremely close to vesting a $7.5 million option
in 2006. Perish the thought if last season marked the beginning of a career
downturn. |
