Led the Padres bullpen with seven wins and 68 strikeouts, and led the National League with 36 holds. The San Diego setup man also tied for the team lead in appearances with 73 (Alan Embree). He notched at least one strikeout in 16 consecutive appearances from May 17-June 19. Held opposing hitters to a .190 batting average before the All-Star break. With 262 career appearances for San Diego, he is now sixth on the franchise all-time list.

Scott Linebrink is a power pitcher and the other half of the Otsuka-Linebrink setup tandem in front of Hoffman. Was 7-3 with a 2.14 ERA and had 83 strikeouts in 84 innings. Has ability to come enter the game in the sixth and throw two innings. Very durable.
Scott Linebrink went 3-2 in 2003 with six holds. In 92.1 IP he struck out 68 and walked 36. His ERA was 3.31. |
