| The D'Backs avoided arbitration with Byrnes by signing him to a one year deal in early February. The '06 centerfielder for the D'Backs will have the unenviable job of replacing Luis Gonzalez in left field this year as Chris Young will claim the center field job on a full time basis this season. Byrnes will be counted on to deliver veteran leadership and pop on a club that figures to have a ton of power in 2009, but no true 'power hitter' in the lineup right now. |
