The 9th overall pick of the 2007 draft is far more than just a flamethrower. Yes, Parker was clocked at 98 MPH both in high school and in the fall Instructional League, by he also displays poise and command of his pitches. He didn't break the bank with his signing bonus, but figures to make plenty of cash down the road in the major leagues.

In the early going with South Bend, Parker has struggled with his location somewhat, and has "only" hit 96 on the gun. He doesn't figure to have the same type of early success as Brett Anderson enjoyed with the Silver Hawks last year, as Parker is a smallish power pitcher who will be limited to 65 pitches in the early going.
