| Biography: |
| After serving as Phillies batboy for the 1980 World Series and spending two stints as a player with the Phillies, Ruben Amaro, Jr. moved directly into the front office when his playing career ended in 1998.
After serving under GMs Ed Wade and Pat Gillick as the point man on negotiating contracts with current players and potential free agents, Amaro took over as General Manager when Pat Gillick retired following the 2008 season.
While the speculation all along was that Amaro would get the job, the official announcement came on November 3, 2008. |
