How he became a Phillie
Acquired in a deal with the Texas Rangers on November 20, 2008 for outfielder Greg Golson. Was assigned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley, but the Phillies immediately purchased his contract and added him to the 40 man roster.
2009 Season
Ranked as the 12th best prospect in the Phillies organization by Philly Baseball News... Promoted to Philadelphia on May 23rd and hit a three-run home run in his second major league at bat. It came off of Andy Pettitte at Yankee Stadium. Hit .222 in three games with the Phillies before being optioned back to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on June 2... Was recalled again on June 18 when Raul Ibanez went on the DL.
2008 Season
Split the season between Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Olkahoma City, hitting a combined 20-71-.264 on the season... Was named as LoneStarDugout.com's #15 prospect in the Texas Rangers organization prior to the 2008 season.
2007 Season
Played at both High-A Bakersfield and Double-A Frisco, hitting a combined 30-83-.235 between the two stops. Also had 25 doubles on the season.
2006 Season
Spent the entire season at Class-A Clinton where he hit 21-77-.268.
2005 Season
Made his pro debut at Low-A Spokane and played in 71 games. He finished the season with 11 home runs and hit .253 on the short-season.

Was originally drafted by the Rangers in 1st round (19th overall) of 2005 MLB Draft after playing his college career at Stanford.
