How he became a Phillie
Signed with the Phillies as a free agent in December, 2006. Werth was originally drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the first round (22nd overall pick) of the 1997 Draft.
Contract Status
Signed a two-year, $10-million deal with the Phillies on January 21, 2009.
2009 Season
Named one of the two most underrated players in the NL by executives and managers in a poll taken by MLB.com (San Diego's Adrian Gonzalez was the other)... Chosen by manager Charlie Manuel to fill a hole on the NL All-Star roster when New York's Carlos Beltran was unable to play because of injury.
2008 Season
Set career-highs in games (134), at bats (418), runs (73), hits (114), home runs (24), RBI (67) and stolen bases (20).
