| While most people remember that the Phillies made Burrell the 1st overall pick in the June 1998 draft, many people don't realize that the Red Sox actually were the first to draft Burrell when they took him in the 43rd round of the June 1995 draft. Burrell decided to attend the University of Miami instead of signing with Boston. Made his major league debut with the Phillies in May of 2000 and has been a team fixture ever since. |
