Rodrigo Lopez Profile
The Phillies have decided to go with a veteran to fill an open spot in their starting rotation. Rodrigo Lopez, a 33 year old right-hander, has won 65 major league games over six seasons with Baltimore, including winning 15 games in 2002 and 2005 and 14 games in 2004.
Lopez underwent Tommy John surgery in August of 2007 and missed most of last season. He signed a minor league deal with the Phillies during the offseason and has been at Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Lopez is 5-4, 3.91 on the season, but his past three starts have been especially strong and he has gone 3-0 with a 0.86 ERA and has gone seven innings in each of those starts.
