Andrew Carpenter Profile

Andrew Carpenter is enjoying a strong season with Triple-A Lehigh Valley and is getting recognition for it. The 24 year old right-hander currently ranks among the league leaders in wins (tied for fourth with seven) and ERA (tenth at 2.75). Carpenter has gone an impressive 7-1 with a 2.75 ERA in 14 games and 13 starts with the IronPigs to begin the year.

Earlier this season, Carpenter earned a rain-shortened win in his first-ever Major League start at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. A former second-round selection in 2006, Carpenter made his Major League debut against the New York Mets 8/27/08 with a scoreless inning of relief. Carpenter was also an All-Star with Clearwater in 2007 in the midst of a league-best 17 win season with the Threshers.

The IronPigs will also send infielder Mike Cervenak and first baseman Andy Tracy to the game, scheduled for July 15th in Portland, Oregon. Lehigh Valley will host the 2010 game at Coca-Cola Park. Cervenak earned a selection to the team for the second straight season, but missed last season's game when he was called up to the Phillies on July 10. Tracy is making his first All-Star Game appearance since 2000.
