Sergio Escalona Profile

Sergio Escalona, who has spent the season shuttling back-and-forth between Philadelphia and Lehigh Valley, was sent to Double-A Reading on Thursday.

Escalona started the year at Reading and pitched in 14 games, recording ten saves in eleven opportunities before being promoted to Lehigh Valley. With the IronPigs, Escalona was 0-2, 5.95 on the season, but most of the damage to his ERA came on Tuesday night when he made an emergency start for Lehigh Valley and gave up five earned runs in two innings. Escalona has pitched in six games for the Phillies and is 1-0 with a 2.84 ERA in the majors.

Patrick Overholt was promoted to Lehigh Valley from Reading to take Escalona's place on the Triple-A roster. Overholt had been with the IronPigs earlier this month and posted a 2.70 ERA in two relief appearances with the club.
