Things haven't exactly gone perfectly for Vance Worley this season, as he entered Thursday night's start with a 5.38 ERA. Perhaps this will go down as the beginning of a big turnaround though, as Worley gave the Reading Phillies six shutout innings as they beat Portland 2-0.

Worley (7-8) allowed three hits and two walks on the night.

Sergio Escalona threw a perfect ninth inning to record his 11th save of the season and lower his ERA at Reading to 1.66 out of the bullpen.
