Darren Byrd is officially hot. Thursday night, he held Fort Myers scoreless for eight innings, allowing four hits and walking two to help the Threshers to a 2-0 win.
In his last three starts, Byrd has thrown 19 shutout innings and has allowed just 12 hits and four walks. Opposing hitters are hitting just .185 against him. Overall, Byrd has a 22 1/3 inning scoreless streak at Clearwater, which has lowered his season ERA from 6.34 to 4.20 for the season.
Freddy Galvis delivered a two-run single in the bottom of the eighth to plate the only runs of the game.
