The Phillies have signed Kyrell Hudson, their fourth round pick in this past June's Draft, to a deal worth $475,000. Hudson's deal is about $175,000 over Major League Baseball's recommended slot for Hudson, who was the 106th overall pick in the draft.
Hudson chose signing with the Phillies over heading to Oregon State, where he would have played both baseball and football.
As an outfielder, Hudson is going to have a lot of work to do both offensively and defensively. He's got blazing speed, but will need to become a more consistent hitter to take advantage of that speed.
